The awkward years

This blog entry is inspired when I saw a young teenage girl (prob 14 or 15) at a void deck with a 25-30 Malay guy after my tuition. I have no idea what they are doing, but the guy just kept on stroking her hair and whisper stuff to her. And the young girl gave off this awkward expression n sat there quietly looking into his eyes. She fidgeted and rub her face awkwardly at some moments. Just as I was observing them fr a distance at the bus stop (I'm waiting for bus, nt so kapo to spy on ple like that), a group of 3 teenage girl passed by the bus stop. Fr the looks of it, they are prob max 16 years old. N they were carrying huge lv bags (fake ones) n smoking away the same time.

There n then, I felt disgusted, yet empathetic toward these young people. Disgusted that why couldn't they take care of themselves n not have some common wisdom. Empathetic that how the society n probly media has influence our youth to behave such prematurely. They are simply micmicking what they tot will be the common and accepted way.

Of cz, at such awkward age, teenagers, esp girls, are still looking for acceptance n identity. I rem growing up as an inferior and awkward girl. I wasn't the cutesy nor the sweetie pie type. N given my height b size ( I was overweight), I am always the "bigger" one in pri n sec sch years. N bcz of that, naughty boys like to make fun of me. N whenever I looked at older girls who are slimer or prettier, I would even feel "smaller". Sometimes, even my family n relatives made fun of me.

Pla dun mistaken that I have v bad childhood. But I guess these things are v impt to me as a teenager than n I guess moat of us would have go tru some sort of inferiority during growing up years. But thank god that iwas mature in my tots. I knew that I need to study well n my go astray. I even somba to myself nt to get attach before 18! Haha!

Those were the data when I will feel uncomfortable when buying undergarments with mum, didn't even dare to ask for one! Those were the days when I feel awkward if I wear tight fit n lesser. Those were the days when those chi ko pei uncles will look at u in a make-u-feel-so-weird way. Those were the days that I got excited when guys call my house. Those were the days I tot gg out with parents is such a uncool thing. N of cz those were the days that made me into a fine lady today. :)

Looking at those teenagers, I think my heart goes out to them and relating me past to them made me feel I'm in a lesser position to judge.

There's defintely things to be done for this generation for the next generations to come. You can count the seed in the orange but u can't count the orange in the seed. I believe in sowing in the lives of the youths. They are our greatest investment.
